Mount is poorly made to protect such an expensive computer
By D. Kristofferson
I agree with the other 1 star reviews. The mounting clip breaks after only about 3 months of use when taking the unit on and off your bike. Other people in my bike club have reported similar results and have had $500 Edge 705 units fly off their bike while riding!!! Come on, Garmin, get your act together and make something out of metal that is more durable. The 705 computer is absolutely great, but it is a travesty that it is attached with a 10 cent piece of plastic that can potentially cause the loss of the enitre computer while on the road!!!

If you have more than one bike you need this.
By Ross Heitkamp
If you got the Edge GPS, then you already got a mount with that - actually enough parts for mounting on 2 bikes. They work just fine. But, (and thanks to the person who posted the picture) this accessory kit doesn't come with the same parts as the Edge did, as you might expect. It only has one mounting clip so it only good for one more bike.

Very Poorly Designed!
By run50
I have now gone through FOUR of these Garmin Edge handlebar mounts. My Edge 705 flew off the bike on one of the mounts while riding down the road as the little tab suddenly broke during a cold weather ride. So I installed a second one that came with the 705. That one broke inside of 2 months. I had 2 more from my old 305, so I put another one on..that one broke, and I put the last one on yesterday, and it broke today. This is ridiculous. They all break at the same point, the small plastic tab that you push down to release the Edge from the mount, breaks. It's a very poor design as all the force is applied at the hingepoint of this tab, which is the weakest point in the design and subsequently breaks. And what is really bad, is that Garmin wants $13.50 for a replacement.
I called Garmin Support today about this and spoke to Steven at Customer Service. Told him the problem and he said that he'd had the same problem with his own 705 mount breaking at the same place. He said that Garmin had had some problems with early mounts and that they had come out with a new mount that was more rigid. But when I asked if I could send them 2 of the broken ones for a replacement, he backpedaled saying that the tab was still on the new mounts and that they had strengthened a different area that was causing a problem, not the tab (which still breaks). I said, so will you send me 2 new ones?? Nope...not for free. So I'm out, 4 of these poor mounts and if I want to put the Edge on any of my 3 bikes, then I need 3 of them...at a cost of $13.50 each plus shipping. The Garmin guy tells me "well it's a small plastic tab and if you put a lot of force pushing down on it, it's going to break cause it's plastic!!". I said, look, I've gone through 4 of them, after the first one, I thought the same thing, and now I barely push down on the release tab and it doesn't matter...the hinge of the tab is the weak point of the design and it's going to break. Then he says " you probably shouldn't use the Edge in cold weather, as plastic breaks in cold weather". Where do they get these people???
Kind of gives me a bad taste in my mouth for Garmin.
