life is simple
By Marco Hardmeier
these little jimmies were exactly what I needed, fit perfectly on to my aftermarket 6x9's and straght up to the factory door harnesses in the little red wagon (2000 ranger xlt), without a super clear description one might ponder if these were for connecting factory speakers to an after market or factory head unit or amp wiring but fortunately it is not so, planning to install replacement speakers in your ride? be sure to nab these to avoid having to chop the original speaker wire harness.

Polarity is reversed
By Rodney A. Schmidt
Before starting my aftermarket speaker installation I printed out the wiring diagram from the Ford Factory Service Manual. This is the Ford manual, not a Chilton or Haynes manual. When I installed these adapters I noticed the polarized speaker terminals are reversed according to the factory wiring diagram. I confirmed that the aftermarket speakers had the same polarity as the adapters suggested and that all the wire colors in my Aviator agreed with the service manual wiring diagram. Since the truck has the factory subwoofer it's important to get the polarity/phase correct so to make double sure the adapters are backward I cut one and tried reversing the polarity. Sure enough, the bass notes were more apparent when the polarity was "reversed" on the adapters. I had tried to swap the terminals around but found that to be too difficult so I ended up cutting the wires of these adapters and swapping polarity. So much for these speeding up my install. For the rear speakers I ended up just splicing in the wires that came with the aftermarket speakers and didn't bother with these adapters.

LOUDER and more Clear
By Daniel J. Smith
I originally just soldered on the wiring connection from the old speaker on to the new speaker, but after one came lose and the speaker stopped working I had to order these. I just put one of the wiring harnesses on the speaker that stopped working and turned on the radio. I could hear a noticeable difference in the two speakers. The one with the wiring harness was much louder and more clear than the one that just had the wiring connection soldered on. The harness was easy to put on. You just connect the one side with the connection into the wiring connection in the door like you would with your old speakers, and slip on the clips onto the speaker terminals on your new speakers. The one clip is bigger than the other so you can't mix up polarity which is pretty cool so you don't have to worry about getting the wires wrong. These harnesses are great for having a clean install and making your speakers play music with a little better quality.
